Most of us have used an electric blade grinder, or at least have seen one being used. The traditional style is a fairly small cylindrical unit into which you place your coffee beans and push the top down which engages the motor and spins the blade to chop up the beans.
As far as the actual grinding methods of a blade grinder, you can either 'pulse' the grinder by pushing down and then releasing the top button repeatedly, or keep pressure on the top button and just grind away. By pulsing the beans you can get them to grind a bit more thoroughly.

Most quality electric blade grinders have working parts manufactured from stainless steel. These components generally include the blade(s), the bowls, the exterior of unit and certain smaller parts. Some units are supplied with a single-blade cutter and some have a dual-blade cutter. The blades are usually removable so they can be cleaned or sharpened as required.
Electric blade grinders can grind coffee, nuts, spices etc. An average unit can grind about two ounces of coffee beans at one time, which will produce about 10-12 cups of coffee. Blade grinders are very different from “burr” grinders, which use cone-shaped or flat burrs to grind the coffee beans between the burrs. This technology can be used to grind coffee beans to a fineness level for Espresso, Turkish, and other versions that require no clumps or uneven grinds. But many people will be satisfied with the freshness of coffee beans ground with an electric blade grinder, especially at the economical prices they sell for.
