Coffee Storage - Keep It Fresh!
|
||
| There is nothing like the taste of Fresh
Roasted Coffee. Coffee will slowly lose its freshness because of time,
exposure to air, moisture, heat, and light. It is best to buy whole bean
coffee and store it at 68 to 72 degrees in an airtight container. Optimally,
grind the beans right before you brew, but we usually grind a few days
worth at a time. Do Not put coffee in the freezer or the refrigerator!
Have you ever tasted cheesecake that has been in the fridge for
a few days? It has probably has lost much of its flavor and even
started to pick up a little of that unmistakable fridge odor.
Recently brand name coffee producers have begun putting expiration dates on their coffee bags. If it has a use by date on it then you know you are probably not getting fresh roasted coffee. Buying coffee from the bins at the grocery store is not such a hot idea either oxygen, light, and who knows what else has affected the freshness of these coffee beans. If you keep your coffee in special foil, one-way valve bags roll the bag up tight and seal out all that flavor killing oxygen. Fresh Roasted Coffee, stored properly, will maintain a fresh roasted taste for about three to four weeks. Calculate your usage and buy enough to span this timeframe. When you are down to your last 5-7 days supply - order more.
